Mai Masri

Mai Masri has directed and produced many award-winning films that have been broadcast by more than 100 television networks worldwide. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in film from San Francisco State University. In collaboration with her husband, filmmaker, Jean Khalil Chamoun, Masri has produced a series of films that have won over 60 international awards.

Her films include: 33 Days (Al-Jazeera Documentary Channel, 2007), Special Tribute, al Kassaba Film Festival, Ramallah; Frontiers of Dreams and Fears (ITVS, 2001) won 14 international awards, including First Prize, International Women’s Film Festival, Torino, Italy; First Prize, Biennale des Cinemas Arabes, Paris; First Prize at Ismailia Film Festival; Golden Sun Award, Environmental Film Festival, Barcelona, Spain; Special Jury Award, Beirut International Film Festival; Earth Vision Award, Tokyo; Children of Shatila (Channel 4, 1998) won Best Director and Best Camera at ASF Festival, London 1999, nominated for the Amnesty International Award; Hanan Ashrawi: A Woman of Her Time (BBC, 1995) won Best Overseas Production at the One World Media Awards, UK, Best Documentary CMCA, Palermo and the Award of the Public at IMA festival, Paris.
