A Wishful Smile

170-awishfulsmile.jpg

Mirna Nassar explores the experiences of the Lebanese people affected by the recent 33 day conflict between Israel and Lebanon. A resident in Lebanon during the offensive, Nassar profiles the personal stories of two residents of Qana in southern Lebanon, and their loss and struggles to make sense of the bombing of their village and the devastation it has brought to their lives. Through reconnecting with the country and culture of Nassar’s upbringing, A Wishful Smile captures the beauty and complexity of Lebanon set against a backdrop of conflict and turmoil.
