Mirna Nassar was born in Lebanon in 1983, but due to political tensions in the region, her family moved to Sydney, Australia. An interest in the performing arts led her to study Digital Media at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales. Behind the camera, Nassar realised the potential of film and photojournalism in expressing social and political issues.

Since completing her Master’s degree she has produced films and artworks that strive to express and explore the ongoing tension between Western society and the Middle East. Her passion for investigative journalism has seen her film and interview people affected by war and loss in her country of origin, Lebanon.
